Programme Overview

​

This programme aims to introduce educators to a responsive, adaptive student-centered approach to teaching, appropriate to the learning and development needs of the  21st century pouched in a VUCA world. The programme provides educators with the tools and strategies to enhance the curriculum and teaching.

 

 

At the end of this programme, educators should be able to;

 

LO1 Recognise and challenge their underlying philosophical assumptions influencing their practice 

LO2 Appreciate teaching methodologies and strategies relevant to the 21st-century learner

LO3 Understand the knowledge structure and technical capability to create inclusive conducive learning environments 

LO4 Develop the capacity to remove learning barriers and enhance engagement and performance 

LO5  Create traditional and digital didactic tools to teach effectively

Delivery Format

A 4hour, workshop for four days Onsite/ Self-paced and blended

Modules

​

Module 1 Overview of Effective Teaching 

​

In this session, participants will be introduced to the different philosophical foundations, aims, values, and purposes of education and to reflect on their practice as educators. During the session, we cover;

• A Practice Audit for a Competency and Value-Added Education

• A historical perspective of education from Education 1.0 to Education 4.0

• The realities of Contemporary Education  and the requirements for the 21st century 

• The need for changing our pedagogical frame- and why the EXCEL Framework

Module 2 Teaching Creatively and Creativity

​

In this session, participants will be introduced to the value of creativity and creative teaching, with specific attention to the EXCEL Pedagogic framework and supporting learning theories. During the session, we cover;

• Overview of teaching creatively and teaching creativity

• Learning and Learning Theories

• A historical perspective of the development of the EXCEL Framework

• Application of the EXCEL Framework: Developing creative capacity for teaching

• Creating learning resources- Creativity and Creative Pedagogies

Module 3 Technology Enhanced Learning

​

In this session, participants will be introduced to Technology and how it can be incorporated and used to enhance learning. During the session, we shall cover;

• Overview of Ed technology and how it can support teaching and learning activities

• Digital literacies: Theory and practice, dos and don’t of technology in the classroom

• Strategies teachers can use to overcome the digital divide

Module 4 Assessment, Feedback and Support

​

In this session, participants will examine the role of assessment and feedback in supporting learning and development. During the session, we shall cover;

​

• Overview of assessment and how to design good assessment

• Providing constructive feedback

• Alternative forms of assessment

• Strategies teachers can use to support fast, average, and slow learners

​
